Mr. Carrigan concentrates his practice in the Securities, Private & Public Funds, Investment Adviser & Management, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Corporate/M&A, and Compliance arenas. He has practiced law for over 35 years and has worked with several of the largest asset management and private equity firms in the U.S, on U.S., Emerging Markets, Latin America, and Asia transactions. Mr. Carrigan has also worked closely with start-up and early-stage firms focused on raising either seed or growth capital, negotiating credit facilities, and/or expanding their investor base. Mr. Carrigan has negotiated and implemented mergers & acquisitions of small to mid-sized companies and has been a strategic adviser to company founders on key issues which impact the company’s growth and success.

Mr. Carrigan also has extensive background on regulatory and compliance issues faced by registered investment advisers, private and public funds, and companies raising capital. He has served as the Chief Legal & Compliance officer for an investment adviser registered with the SEC which had a family of ’40 act funds and other private funds. Mr. Carrigan has also assisted Executive Teams on presentations and materials delivered to Boards and/or Executive Committees for review and consideration.

Mr. Carrigan works closely with the other attorneys in our Securities & Private Equity, Private Investment Funds, and General Corporate practice areas. Mr. Carrigan got his undergraduate Bachelor of Science-Economics and his Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Missouri. He began his legal career as a law clerk to the Chief Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Iowa.
