Biography

Russell Manning represents clients in diverse matters involving intellectual property rights, including patent preparation and prosecution for both startups and established companies. He has prepared hundreds of patents in the mechanical, electro-mechanical, software and medical industries. Russell conducts domestic and foreign patent prosecution, interfacing with foreign counsel worldwide. He also works with in-house counsel to identify patentable subject matter and protection strategies for products.

Russell has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting United States patent applications in a variety of technical fields, including communication systems, medical devices, medical imaging processing software and systems, aerospace devices, and a numerous mechanical systems and devices. In addition, Russell’s practice includes counseling to render legal opinions on patent validity and infringement, IP due diligence support, licensing and counseling as to intellectual property transactions.

Russell earned his engineering degree from the University of Wyoming, where he focused on thermodynamic and fluid flow aspects of mechanical engineering. After earning his undergraduate degree, Russell worked in the aerospace industry designing high temperature satellite insultation. Prior to joining FisherBroyles, Russell was counsel at Snell and Wilmer and served as managing partner of the IP law firm Marsh Fischmann & Breyfogle LLP.
