Biography

Teige Sheehan, Ph.D., is a Partner at FisherBroyles, LLP, where he focuses his practice on intellectual property counseling, prosecution, litigation, and transactions, with a particular emphasis on life sciences and biotechnology matters as well as trademarks. Drawing on a distinguished background in neuroscience and molecular biology, Dr. Sheehan brings clients a rare combination of scientific depth and legal insight in the development, protection, and enforcement of intellectual property assets.

Before entering the practice of law, Dr. Sheehan spent many years as a neuroscientist studying the molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying cellular and neural function. He earned his Ph.D. from Boston College and subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Yale University School of Medicine and as an Assistant Professor at Brown University. His scientific training and research experience provide him with a sophisticated understanding of complex technologies across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors.

Dr. Sheehan advises clients on all aspects of patent strategy, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, advisement on domestic and international patenting strategy and portfolio development, post-grant proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, intellectual property licensing and transactions, and patent-related disputes and appeals. He also maintains an active trademark practice, counseling clients on brand protection and trademark enforcement matters.

Admitted to practice in New York, the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Federal Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court, Dr. Sheehan has represented clients in patent, trademark, and copyright litigation in courts throughout the United States.

Dr. Sheehan is active in the Intellectual Property Owners Association, where he serves on the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Issues Committee and the Patent Law Committee. Through his work with these organizations, he has contributed to efforts supporting innovation, strengthening patent protections, and promoting U.S. business competitiveness.
